Walthers wins two SITE Crystal Awards in 2011
Las Vegas, 14 Oct 2011.
At a ceremony held during the SITE Conference in Las Vegas on Friday, Walthers DMC was announced as the winner in not just one, but two Site Crystal Award categories:
• Most Impactful Effort Toward Corporate Social Responsibility
• Exceptional Motivational Travel Program – Africa Middle East
Walthers DMC entered under the first category for a programme designed together with KPMG Meijburg & Co Holland, and agency partner Eventions. The programme is unique in that it is not a Sales Incentive, but one driven by the companies’ Human Resources department as part of their graduate recruitment programme.
“What makes this project special for us is the significant contribution our client has made towards the local community located close to Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve, where the participants visited” commented Walthers MD Daryl Keywood.
Classrooms, school desks and waterless Enviro Loo toilets as well as water for drinking and hygiene were provided. In addition over €3000 was raised by the KPMG Meijburg employees during a fundraising spinning marathon. These funds have been used for sports equipment enabling the Ezweni Combined School to compete in the Dreamfields soccer programme as well as in the local schools netball league.
The entire project was completed without a major contractor using local community resources and with minimal environmental impact.
Walthers DMC has previously won a Site Crystal Award in a similar category for “Most Sustainable Event”.
We are both honoured and humbled by this accolade” commented Daryl Keywood. “Ezweni Combined School is a longstanding Walthers CSR project and together with the contributions made by the employees and the KPMG Meijburg & Co Foundation we have demonstrated that successful motivation reward programmes can be enhanced by the inclusion of CSR elements with significant benefit both for the participants as well as the local community.
The SITE Crystal Awards were designed to elevate the global standard of motivational experiences and honor creativity and excellence. No other program serves to recognize program planning and execution for experiences individuals would not be able to create on their own.

Congrats to Walthers, Daryl and Team for not one but two Crystal Awards…Also a great accolade for South Africa!
With their Events Manager recently acknowledged with CMP status – the sky is indeed the limit for this highly capable DMC…….Well done guys !

SITE are also CIC (Convention Industry Council) members which is an added plus for Walthers DMC.
South Africa needs more proactive suppliers such as Walthers – which make the buyers much more confident as to who they select with our MICE4 planning.
