Event Greening Training in Gauteng

The Event Greening Forum will be hosting some training on 31 August (Tshwane) and 2 September (Johannesburg). The training is aimed at professionals within the events and exhibition industry who have an interest in incorporating green principles in their line of work. This broadly includes; event organisers, venues, suppliers and sub-contractors ranging from students to experienced industry role-players.

Greening is a relatively new focus in the industry, and has not yet been incorporated into most tertiary event management qualifications. However it is gaining traction as more and more people acknowledge that greening is not a fad but an essential ingredient for truly sustainable growth. In addition to this, it is an appealing selling point for many clients where two event organisers are offering an otherwise similar service.

“Event greening is not only a way to host an event responsibly, but it is also a great opportunity to showcase and encourage participation in sustainable living”, says Grace. Through making small changes as part of your event you can contribute to a reduction in carbon emissions in various ways.

The training will be presented in two interactive sessions; a beginner’s session will run in the morning setting the scene around the basics, and a more advanced session will follow in the afternoon. Either one, or both, sessions can be attended, depending on the individual’s requirements.

Many thanks to the Coca-Cola Dome and City of Tshwane who sponsored the venues for these workshops as part of their dedication to promote event greening.
