Heritage partners with Green Globe Certification to promote new responsible tourism app for Apple Mobile Devices

The Heritage Environmental Management Company today announced the introduction of the new Green Globe App for Apple mobile devices – an application promoting responsible tourism businesses across the continent and globally.

The Green Globe App, which is available as a free download at the Apple App store under the Travel category, is the only mobile application for Apple iPads, iPhones and iPods that allows travellers to instantly search for sustainable resorts, hotels, conference centers, attractions, tour experiences and wedding options. The App delivers photos and descriptions of Heritage and Green Globe certified businesses, with direct links to booking, views in Google-earth and YouTube videos as part of the worldwide marketing platform.
“This exclusive partnership represents a truly global initiative in sustainable tourism between two leading certification brands,” says Greg McManus, managing director of Heritage.

The App is ideal for travellers on the go, and those who want to track down accommodation that has the highest ‘green’ credentials. Also for business travellers and conference organisers, the App quickly locates conference facilities for ‘green’ meetings and even includes a search function for couples looking to plan a wedding at properties that give back to their local communities.

The global launch of the Green Globe App comes at the right time – to provide delegates, visitors and participants to COP17 in Durban – with a handy and effective tool to find and book sustainable and responsible accommodation during the conference. “We encourage industry to support the development of this tool by becoming certified as environmentally responsible,” says McManus.

The Green Globe App promotes hotels, resorts and other tour options around the world that meet the highest level of sustainable management and operation. All Heritage and Green Globe members are independently audited to standards that have been internationally accepted as the definition of sustainable travel and tourism.
