With over 14,000 CMPs in 35 countries – the advent of CMP within a nation’s meetings / events industry – establishes a standard of proven ability and applied best practice.
The facts and figures reveal South African meetings / events industry has an untapped treasure-chest of meeting practitioners that continue to stand-up and be recognised together with their peers worldwide.
Since 2006 there have been eight CMP exams in Johannesburg. 145 individuals submitted application forms in order to be accepted as a CMP candidate.
Environmental Management in Tourism Conference provisionally postponed
The Environmental Management in Tourism conference (EMiT) which offered a dedicated platform for debate on responsible tourism has been postponed until a later date conference organisers announced today.
The decision to postpone the conference, which was to have taken place from 9-10 November at the Sandton Conference Centre in Sandton, Johannesburg and included high profile local and international specialists on all aspects of environmental management in the hospitality and leisure industry, was guided by a number of factors including slow registrations, the proximity of COP17 and the current economic downturn currently being experienced in the country (and industry). The Heritage Environmental Management Company today announced the introduction of the new Green Globe App for Apple mobile devices – an application promoting responsible tourism businesses across the continent and globally.
The Green Globe App, which is available as a free download at the Apple App store under the Travel category, is the only mobile application for Apple iPads, iPhones and iPods that allows travellers to instantly search for sustainable resorts, hotels, conference centers, attractions, tour experiences and wedding options. The App delivers photos and descriptions of Heritage and Green Globe certified businesses, with direct links to booking, views in Google-earth and YouTube videos as part of the worldwide marketing platform.
