The Event Greening Forum hosts ‘Way Forward’ meeting
On Wednesday 20th October, the Event Greening Forum (EGF) held a very successful ‘Way Forward’ meeting with nine industry associations, to discuss what role the associations can play as founding members when the EGF corporatises into a Section 21 Company, as well as how the EGF will be structured in its new capacity.
The associations represented at the meeting were: TPSA, SITE, CMP Network SA, Fedhasa, SATSA, SA Roadies, IFEA, SAACI and EXSA.
Also present at the meeting was Mbuyi Kona from the Gauteng Tourism Association, advocate Louis Nel who has been working on the EGF constitution, and three EGF members – Justin Hawes, Grace Stead and Pippa Walker.
All the associations had a very positive response towards their proposed involvement with the EGF, but the need to clearly formulate their responsibilities and the structure of the EGF was indicated. In order not to delay the process, but also to avoid rushing it without due consideration, the recommendation was made to establish a skeleton constitution for the interim, to use when the EGF becomes a Section 21. This can then be fleshed out over time with, for example, the introduction of guidelines for paid-for membership subscriptions and certification standards. [Read on...]
